Crews extinguish early morning fire in Kill Devil Hills

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department has reported that on May 19, 2021 at 3:43 a.m. it responded to a report of a fire alarm activation. On arrival, the engine company saw smoke in the building and upgraded the fire alarm activation to a first alarm assignment.

The incident occurred in the 2000 block of S. Croatan Highway.

Fire crews from Colington Volunteer Fire Department and Nags Head Fire Department as well as the Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS were on scene and assisted in the operation. The fire was extinguished and contained to the front counter, inside the structure, stated the KDHFD news release.

Kill Devil Hills Fire Marshal John L. Risoldi Sr. is investigating to determine the fire origin and cause. There are no reported injuries.
