JoAnn S. Ross, 73, of Manteo, died May 15, 2021 of natural causes.

She was born in Portsmouth, Va. and was the daughter of the late Edward G. Smith Sr. and Eugenie B. Smith. She is survived by daughter Meredith Stephens (Andrew Stephens), grandchildren Owen, Wyatt and Katey Stephens, sister Audrey S. Griswold and brother E. Garland Smith.
