Manteo High School boys, girls win home track meet

Manteo High School boys won 15 of 16 events and Manteo girls won five of their six events to easily defeat visiting Cape Hatteras Secondary teams in a high school track and field meet last Wednesday.

Isaac Jarvis helped lead Manteo boys to their 112-13 home field win with first place finishes in the high jump, pole vault and 110 meter high hurdles. Mekhi Bias and Michael McCallum were also double winners for Manteo. Bias captured the boys 100 and 200 meter dashes while teammate McCallum had the best distance tosses in the boys discus and shot put events.

Shanklin Austin was the only individual winner for Hatteras boys with his first place finish in the 3200 meter run.

With Elizabeth Muller the only Hatteras girl earning points, it was an easy 38-8 win for Manteo. Muller won the 800 and finished second in the 1600 meter for all of her team’s points.

Leading Manteo girls in their scoring effort was Erika Bailey with a first place in the 200 and second in the 100 sprints.
