Man sentenced to 15 years in prison for methamphetamine charge

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of North Carolina has reported that a Mexican national was sentenced June 29 to 180 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to court documents and information presented in court, Agustin Nunez-Leonardo, 22, told undercover officers that he had a source that could supply kilograms of methamphetamine for delivery to Wake County, North Carolina.

“Nunez-Leonardo, a Mexican national, had previously been deported. During the course of the investigation, he agreed to sell undercover officers 5 kilograms of methamphetamine,” stated the U.S. Attorney’s Office press release.
“He ultimately sold 4,940 grams of methamphetamine to undercover officers. Laboratory testing revealed the seized methamphetamine was 100% pure.”

G. Norman Acker III, acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Wake County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tom Crosby prosecuted.
