Virginia Beach woman arrested on drug charges after Avon traffic stop

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported that on June 28, 2021 at approximately 10:48 p.m., a deputy working the C District pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation near Pampas Street and Hwy. 12 in Avon.

“While the Deputy was speaking with the driver, they could smell an odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle,” stated a DCSO press release. “During the search of the vehicle an amount of Cocaine and Adderall were located.”

Deborah Joy Horton, 32, of Virginia Beach, Va., was charged with felony possession of cocaine and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and was release on a $10,000 secured bond.
