 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. – Galations 5:13 NIV

I enjoy driving in and of little towns. Many streets are lined with so many beautiful and different picket fences. Blue hydrangeas and orange daylilies bursting through the white pickets. Climbing roses, too. These fences surround Victorian homes, cottages, bungalows and more. Front porches decorated with wicker chairs and steps lined with pots of flowers are dotted here and there. Loving touches like birdbaths, baskets of flowers, window boxes and garden art, show individuality and expression. I may even observe neighbors visiting over the fence or children riding on bikes, but one thing always stands out. So many American flags . . . everywhere! Such pride is apparent in many communities and for our country!

We are proud Americans in our home. My husband has donated numerous flags and poles to many of our neighbors so that our little street stands out in patriotism. He installs them to the joy of many who display their flag with patriotic pride. It blesses him too.

Independence Day is just ahead of us, and it is just one day, yet it is important to remember to celebrate our country and the freedom we enjoy each day, every day. We should always be grateful and never take our freedom for granted. It is a blessing and a gift. The men and women who died for our country are to be praised and remembered. A tremendous sacrifice never to be forgotten.

We have freedom to live, work, play and worship wherever we want to. Many people in other countries would give anything to have the choices we have. With 4^th of July celebrations with cookouts, parades, fireworks and ice cream, let’s also take time to offer prayer for our local, state and national leaders. These people are in a place of leadership that they might serve Him and the People to the best of their ability. They need our prayers for godly wisdom as they make decisions that affect each of us and the places we live. Thank you, God, for the tireless efforts of those that work so hard to help maintain the freedom that we continue to enjoy.
