Hatteras, NC – Alonzo O’Neal Willis, 85, of Hatteras, NC died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Spring Arbor of The Outer Banks.

A Hatteras Island native, Alonzo was born on May 31, 1936, to the late Lora O’Neal Willis and Josephus Willis.

Having served his country honorably, Alonzo retired from the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant. His second retirement followed a career as a captain with the NCDOT – Ferry Division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Conner Willis.

Alonzo is survived by a daughter, Tami E. Willis of Frisco, NC; a son, Joe Willis of Norfolk, VA; and a sister, Gerald W. Chory of Elizabeth City, NC.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Hatteras United Methodist Church with Rev. Dwight Burrus and Rev. Toni Wood officiating.
