David Walter Hitchings, of Moyock, died August 1, 2021 after an illness. He was born in Caribou, Maine on October 19, 1930 to Eugene and Edith Hitchings. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Margaret Russell Hitchings; son John Hitchings; sister Doris Cyr; and brother Robert Hitchings.

He is survived by son Paul Hitchings (Sidney) and daughter Mary Saunders; brother Gerald W. Hitchings; sister Nora Todd; daughter-in-law Claudia Hitchings and grandchildren Matthew, Amy and Hayley.

Mr. Hitchings served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on August 7 at Twiford Memorial Chapel.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City is serving the family. www.TwifordFH.com.
