The Wanchese Lions Club cooked hamburgers and hotdogs for the National Night Out celebration at Cartwright Park on Tuesday afternoon, August 3.

In spite of the rain, attendance was good and over 200 hotdogs and 200 hamburgers were cooked and served to those who braved the weather and came to the celebration. National Night Out is a nationwide event, with this celebration sponsored by the Manteo Police Department and the Town of Manteo.

The Wanchese Lions Club was chartered in February 1980 and has served the Wanchese community since that time. It meets in the Wanchese Community Building every second and fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in the work of the Lions Club is welcome to attend.
