Nesting season at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge doesn’t get much better than this.
American oystercatcher (Haematopus pallistus) parents and two offspring wade in the ocean looking for food.
While the oystercatcher chicks are on the move, other species’ nests and chicks still need buffer areas. “Please help us protect them by following the refuge policies by staying out of temporary closed areas and keeping dogs leashed,” stated USFWS.
