Jeff Granitzki, of Manteo, hit a milestone with his blood donation to the Red Cross in August: 100 pints donated, or 12 and a half gallons.

Granitzki started donating in 1981, but only at a rate of about once per year at that time. “I have been more dedicated for the last 25 years,” he stated. “You can give every 56 days, I actually gave 6 pints in 2018 which is hard to do.”

Of his dedication to donating, Granitzki says it is “just the right thing to do.”

“It takes about an hour of your time to donate, you cannot catch any viruses (including COVID or anything else) from donating,” he stated. “You get to meet people and make friends.”
