Charles Dwight Burrus, 51, was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 9, 1970 to Dwight Burrus of Hatteras and Cheryl Miller Burrus, now Cheryl Benson, of Fairhope, Alabama.

Survivors include his parents, spouse Sander Schlichter, stepmother Debbie Burrus, stepsister Jessica Felice and brother Bryan Wood (Alicia).

Charlie died in the hospital in Raleigh as a result of an automobile accident on August 20, 2021. A graveside service is planned for family and special friends in Hatteras on September 18.
