Dear speeding and distracted driver,

What makes your existence more important than those around you? You almost killed our 14 year old son and his friend as they crossed the road at Helga on their bikes this morning. You totaled the stopped car in front of you, injuring the passengers at the red light. You join hundreds of other impaired and distracted drivers that ruin family’s lives every day. But you’re still here! After a flood of emotions, I realize that you also have been given a second chance at life. You also have a purpose greater than yourself. Otherwise, you would not be reading this today.

Without getting into every detail of what was almost taken from us, know this – God still has you (and all of us) here for the sole purpose of making the world a better place. Every day when we wake up and every day that we go to sleep, that should be at the forefront of our minds.

To all – slow down (and please don’t drink and drive)! Respect those around you so that we can all achieve that goal: To make the world a better place.
