The Currituck Farm Festival, a celebration of the area’s agricultural heritage, is set for October 2 from 1-4 p.m. The event will be held at the Currituck County Center of NC Cooperative Extension at 120 Community Way in Barco.

Century Farms and Currituck farmers will be recognized with an appreciation lunch at the food truck corral. “After you get some food, head over to our ‘agriculture through the years’ display where we’ll highlight agricultural processes from then and now,” stated a Currituck Extension press release. “These interactive displays include fun for the whole family, such as corn shelling, hay rides, antique tractors and tools, soap making demos, pumpkin bowling and more!”

The Homegrown and Handmade contest winners will be awarded. The 4-H Chicken Show and skillet throwing contest will be held and the Brunswick stew cook-off will be voted on. “With all of these contests, displays and games, there’s something to do and learn for everyone,” stated the release.
