VIRGINIA BEACH – Nora Elizabeth Roadcap, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021. She was a retired Beautician having been trained at Hick’s Beauty Academy in Norfolk. Born in Rodanthe, NC, she was the daughter of the late Nora Elizabeth Midgett Herbert and John Edgar Herbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Roadcap and her two sons, Darryl and David Roadcap.

Nora was a graduate of Rodanthe High School in Rodanthe, N.C. When she moved to Virginia she joined Epworth United Methodist Church and was an active member for seventy-one years. She served as president of the Crusader Fellowship Class and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. In addition she prepared meals for the homeless population through the N.E.S.T. program along with her family. Nora was a member of Westminster Chapter 99 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held various offices over the years. She was also a member and president of the Cedarettes. Nora served as Kathy’s Girl Scout leader for eight years.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Anita Dunn of Virginia Beach and Kathy E. Ramey and her husband, Allen of Chesapeake; a sister, Jazania O’Neal of Rodanthe, NC; a brother, John Herbert of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren, Aaron Dunn, Tiffany Drake, Holly Pennington, Jonathan Ramey, and Jason Roadcap; and seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth David, Charles David, Haley Drake, Grayson Pennington, Noelle Pennington, Zachary Ramey, and Brooks Ramey.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Norfolk Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1501 Colonial Ave. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7th in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Melody Duncan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 124 W. Freemason St., Norfolk, VA  23510.
