COVID-19 update: Overall metrics trending down

Across North Carolina, coronavirus metrics are trending downward.

Total cases, while fluctuating daily, show a downward trend line.

Hospitalizations are a straight down line. Some 2,236 North Carolinians were hospitalized Tuesday, Oct. 12. About a month earlier, Sept. 10, the total was 3,776 patients.

On Sept. 10, ICUs across the state held 912 people with COVID-19. On Oct. 12, that number was down to 608 patients.

For the period Oct. 4 through 8, Dare County recorded 101 new, lab-confirmed cases.

Dare County as of Oct. 11, 2021:

Active cases: 64 residents

In hospital: 13 residents

In home isolation: 51 residents

Deaths: 20 residents

Vaccinated: 71% one dose; 67% fully

Hyde County as of Oct. 8, 2021:

Active cases: 7 residents

Deaths: 12 residents

Vaccinated: 71% one dose; 67% fully

Tyrrell County as of Oct. 11, 2021:

Active cases: 47 residents

Deaths: 7 residents

Vaccinated: 48% one dose; 44% fully

Currituck as of Oct. 8, 2021:

Active cases: 68 residents, decreased from 99

Deaths: 25 residents, one additional death

Vaccinated: 42% one dose; 37% fully

Camden as of Oct. 8, 2021:

Active cases: 28 residents, decrease from 38

Deaths: 8 residents

Vaccinated: 47% one dose; 43% fully

Pasquotank as of Oct. 8, 2021:

Active cases: 154 residents, increase of 26 cases

Deaths: 105 residents, increase of four deaths

Vaccinated: 51% one dose; 45% fully

Dare County Schools COVID-19 update, Oct. 12, 2012:

Student total: 9 active cases, 16 quarantined

Cape Hatteras Elementary, Manteo Middle and Manteo High have no active cases and no students quarantined.

Cape Hatteras Secondary: no active cases; two quarantined

First Flight Elementary: two active cases; none quarantined

First Flight Middle: one active case; none quarantined

First Flight High: one active case; five quarantined

Kitty Hawk Elementary: two active cases; five quarantined

Manteo Elementary: one active case; three quarantined

Nags Head Elementary: two active cases; one quarantined

Staff: four active cases; none quarantined
