Currituck County 4-H’er Evan Bedsole took home a gold medal win at the 2021 NC 4-H Outcooking Cooking Competition. Bedsole competed in the 11-13 year old chicken grilling category with his “Honey Sriracha Chicken” recipe.

The Currituck Extension noted that his “first place win is a reflection of the time and dedication he committed to his project. Evan earned the opportunity to compete at the State competition by winning first place at the Northeast District Outdoor Cooking (Chicken) held this summer.”

At NC Cooperative Extension, 4-H Youth Development strives to equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful adults. “Effective communications and life skills development are vital for youth as they develop into tomorrow’s leaders,” stated the Currituck Extension release. “Outdoor Cooking is just one of the many opportunities for youth to participate in the NC 4-H Public Speaking and Presentations program.”
