Duck Police Department blotter October 11-17

The Duck Police Department’s weekly blotter for October 11 through 17, 2021 noted the department had 248 calls for service and 16 traffic enforcement actions were issued by officers.

Also during the week, 132 business checks were made and one unsecured door was found. Three extra patrols were requested by out of town property owners.

Missing person (Turnbuckle Court) – Family members reported an 81-year-old male with dementia missing from the residence. Duck Police, Duck Fire, Duck Ocean Rescue, Southern Shores Police, Southern Shores Fire, United States Coast Guard and Dare and Currituck County Emergency Management assisted in the search. The man was located the following morning in a vacant home.

Suspicious condition (Duck Road) – A business owner reported blood being smeared on the door handles of some of the businesses. Investigation showed the incident was likely a Halloween prank and no calls for medical assistance were fielded during the previous evening.

Larceny (Duck Road) – A subject reported her purse stolen from her unlocked vehicle. The purse was described as a medium sized black purse.

No traffic crashes were reported.
