The North Carolina Aquariums will honor veterans and military service members on November 11, 2021. The three aquariums, located at Roanoke Island (Manteo), Fort Fisher (Kure Beach) and Pine Knoll Shores (near Atlantic Beach), will offer free admission on Veterans Day to all veteran, active, reserve or retired members of the U.S. military with an online reservation and a valid service identification or proof of service, as well as spouses and dependents.

“This is the aquariums’ way to say thank you to those who have given so much to our country, while providing an opportunity to learn more about the natural world and have fun together with friends and family,” said Maylon White, North Carolina Aquariums division director.

“Historically, the aquariums have waived admission for guests on Veterans Day in November and Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January,” stated a press release from North Carolina Aquariums. “After careful consideration across the division, changes to the holiday offerings became necessary as, in recent years, visitation on those days ballooned creating safety concerns and unsatisfactory visitor experiences.”

In addition to last year’s changes, all visitors including veterans are required to make online reservations before they arrive. Advanced registration for veterans, NC Aquarium members and general public who would like to visit any of the aquariums on November 11 can be made at the online ticketing system at ncaquariums.com/roanoke-island for the Roanoke Island aquarium.
