David Sawyer Burgess Sr., 80, of Camden, died November 13, 2021 at home. Mr. Burgess was born in Elizabeth City on November 19, 1940 and was the son of the late Everett Burgess and Lorraine Sawyer Burgess. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Wanda Dozier Burgess and brother Duke Burgess.

Survivors include sons David S. Burgess Jr. (Laurie) and Jonathan Burgess (Lisa), grandsons Zachary and Graham Burgess and Elijah, Asher and Micah Burgess, sister Dianne Barber and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was held November 16 at Sawyer’s Creek Baptist Church. Twiford Funeral Home is serving the family. www.TwifordFH.com
