Amanda Lou Sears Schmitt, 72, of Engelhard, died November 21, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Amanda was born in Beaufort County on October 10, 1949 to the late Daniel Webster and Maribell Gibbs Sears.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 4 at Amity United Methodist Church. Friends will be received following the service at St. George’s parish house. Private inurnment will follow at the family plot at Soul Cemetery.

Surviving are son Bryon G. Schmitt (Elsa); grandchildren Sydney Schmitt (Justin), Mandy Schmitt, Garrett Schmitt; one great-grandson; brother Charles Sears; sisters, Marie S. Barnhill, Marlis Smith, Sara S. Meekins, Mary Armstrong (Jerry), Janet Russ (Anthony) and other family and friends.

She was predeceased by husband Robert “Bobby” Schmitt and brothers Daniel Webster Sears Jr. and Nathan Sears.
