Corolla offers three events to ring in the Christmas season.

The festivities begin this Friday, November 26 with the 6th Annual Whalehead Christmas Craft Village from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Whalehead grounds in Historic Corolla Park. Local artists and vendors will be offering fine arts, handmade cosmetics, crafts, artwork and baked goods and this one-day outdoor event. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be waiting to hear Christmas wishes and pose for photos. Visitors are invited to enjoy the sights on a free sleigh ride through the park.

The Whalehead mansion in Historic Corolla Park is offering candlelight Christmas tours Fridays and Saturdays November 26, 27 and December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 5 p.m. each evening. The residence of the original owners, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Collings Knight Jr., will be decorated in traditional 1920s décor. Visitors will delight in the greenery, Christmas trees, food, fruit, candy and nuts, as well as the newly designed Starkey room exhibit. The tour includes a live piano performance on a custom-built Steinway and several Christmas carols.

Food and drinks will be available from The Kind Cup Coffee Shop and food trucks. The Corolla Christmas Village is made possible by Twiddy & Company. Carl Curnutte, executive director of The Elizabethan Gardens and the driving force behind WinterLights, will be the creative director of the event. “His creative vision will be the foundation of the Christmas Village,” stated a news release from Twiddy & Company.

“We’re excited for locals and visitors to enjoy Christmas in Corolla this holiday season,” said Tameron Kugler, director at the Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism. “From the Christmas Craft Village and Candlelight Tours at Whalehead to the festivities in Historic Corolla Village, the sights, sounds, splendor and spirit of the season will be on full display for all to enjoy.”
