Manteo wrestlers picked up one first, two second and one third place finish in the November 20 Beach Brawl Invitational Wrestling Tournament at West Carteret High School.

With medals awarded to the top three places in each of 14 different weight divisions, John Perciful (Manteo) pinned his opponent Josiah Hynes (East Carteret) at the 1:33 mark in the 145 weight class to earn Manteo’s only first place medal.

Other scoring wrestlers for the Redskins included Ivan Rubio (Manteo) in the 160 weight class who earned a 7-2 decision win over Douglas Robinson (Pamlico County) for third place, Dylan Polatty (Manteo) who placed second in the 170 weight class when he lost his championship round to Cole Reynolds (West Carteret) and Kamari Brooks (Manteo) who finished second in the 182 class after losing his championship round to Gatlan Thompson (Cape Fear).

Cape Fear was the overall team champion with 157.5 points. Manteo finished sixth with 74.0 points in a field of 15 teams.
