Takeyia De’Shay Berry, 39, a of Manteo, NC left this life to be an angel on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Takeyia was born October 17, 1982 to Constance Selby Payne and Maloyd Berry Jr. She matriculated at both Dare County Schools and Henderson County Schools, graduating with the class of 2000. Many people know her well from her years as a dedicated employee of both Piggly Wiggly and the Dare County Tax Office. She is also a registered Girl Scout and volunteer for troop 2356 of Manteo, NC, helping for many years with getting supplies to area homeless. Takeyia really enjoyed traveling. Mostly for spending time with family. And you can’t help but laugh when you hear her laugh. It’s infectious. No matter what she had going on, she always managed that brilliant smile.

She is survived by her oldest daughter, Kieriana Berry, of Manteo, NC. Her parents, Constance and stepfather, Curtis Payne, of Nebo, NC. Brother Demetrius Selby, of Manteo and his children, nieces Legacy, Kajeria, Oliana and Aonesty. Sister Ebony Selby, of Manteo and her children, Kiyaun, Zhiya, and Rahkim. She also leaves a host of close aunts and uncles, Lovey, Daniel, Julius, and Alvin (Joann) Selby. The remaining Burton sisters, whom she adored, Aunts Mable, Ethel, Gloria, Aquilla and Priscilla. There are also aunt Bernice Berry Riley (Robert) of Morgan Hill, California and uncle Kenneth Berry of Seattle, Washington. She had many cousins who were more like siblings and whose children she treated more like nieces and nephews, some affectionately calling her “Aunt Keva”, that will miss her terribly.

She is preceded in death by her father, Maloyd Berry Jr., maternal grandparents, Connie “Gamama” and Milton Selby and paternal grandparents, Laurette and Maloyd Berry Sr. She has also reunited with her beloved great aunt, Lovey.
