The Christmas season kicked off in Manteo with lots of cheer, smiles, carols, dancers and so much more. “However, we aren’t stopping there!” states a press release form the town. “We are looking forward to the Manteo Police Department Food and Coat Drive on Saturday, December 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.”

The Pea Island Preservation Society is joining the effort again this year, which will be held in a convenient drive-through fashion with two locations – Manteo Town Hall and the Pea Island Cookhouse Museum. Donations of new coats, non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies and diapers will benefit the three local food pantries in Manteo, Coats for Kids and the Dellerva Collins Coat Drive for Kids.

The Town of Manteo also announced that the Manteo Police Department received grant funds in the amount of $2,000 from Project A-Game to support youth hunger relief and safety through 7-Eleven, Inc.’s community relations department this year. In addition, the staff at the Manteo location of 7-Eleven were ready to load up vehicles with cases of food to benefit the food and coat drive.
