A local fisherman recently found this redhead duck in his net in the Albemarle Sound and took him to Roanoke Island Animal Clinic in Manteo to get checked out.

“The duck was sore and had a little pneumonia,” said Dr. Mark Grossman. “We treated him with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics.”

The redhead was released him the next day and Grossman said he “flew away like a new duck.”

Grossman, who has been doing wildlife pro bono work since 1992, noted that “we really appreciate everyone helping to get the wildlife to us for proper care.” The clinic does not accept payment for wildlife cases brought in to them, however does have a wildlife fund for those who would like to contribute.
