Mary Albertia (Bateman) Cooper, 79, of Columbia, died December 22, 2021 at the Tyrrell House Assisted Living Facility in Columbia.

Mary Cooper was born in Tyrrell County on July 20, 1942 to the late Rufus Jackson and Estoria Roughton Bateman.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 26 in the Bryan Funeral Service Chapel in Columbia. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Maitland Cemetery.

Survivors include sons Kenneth Mauffray of Columbia and Richard Mauffray (Monica), four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughter Tonya Mims.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Columbia Christian Church Disciples of Christ, PO Box 604, Columbia, NC 27925.
