Outer Banks Hotline has announced its Volunteer of the Month for December 2021, Maxine Maxwell-Beaner, one of the volunteers in the Kitty Hawk Hotline Pink thrift store. Maxwell-Beaner was nominated by her manager, Tammie Perry-Inscore.

“Maxine is from Lancaster County, Pa., where she worked in the medical field. She was a medical assistant as well as a clinical research coordinator,” shared Perry-Inscore. “She relocated to the Outer Banks in 2018 with her husband of 29 years, Greg Beaner, and their daughter.

“Maxine learned about Hotline’s mission at Festival of Trees in 2018 and has volunteered since then becoming very passionate about the mission,” Perry-Inscore continued. “She volunteers at Pink multiple days a week, always willing to help in any capacity necessary, and is always a phone call away. She also handles the pricing and sorting of jewelry at multiple stores. Hotline is truly lucky to have her on our team.”

The announcement of Maxwell-Beaner’s recognition states that she “personifies the kindness and generosity of the volunteer spirit!”

Outer Banks Hotline is a private, non-profit human services organization that provides crisis intervention, safe house, information and referrals, advocacy and prevention education services to residents of and visitors to the Outer Banks. A 24-hour crisis line (252-473-3366) connects a distressed caller to a volunteer trained to listen and make referrals. Topics include suicide, family problems, depression, substance abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.
