A Raleigh man was sentenced Friday, January 28, 2022 to 57 months in prison for knowingly possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of North Carolina. Tevin Darius Young, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge on September 2, 2021.

According to court documents and other information presented in court Young was involved in a shooting incident on September 29, 2019 in the area of Milburnie Road and Gibney Drive in Raleigh.

“An investigation of the shooting ultimately led to the search of a residence where officers found Young in possession of a stolen .45 caliber Glock handgun, a 26 round .45 caliber magazine, and various rounds of ammunition,” stated the release.

Michael Easley, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement after sentencing by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case with the assistance of the Raleigh Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Evan Rikhye and William M. Gilmore prosecuted the case.
