The public is invited to participate in a discussion on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6 to 7 p.m. regarding several oceanfront houses that are in danger of collapsing on Cape Hatteras National Seashore beaches. The location of the meeting is the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building at 23646 N.C. Highway 12 in Rodanthe.

National Parks of Eastern North Carolina Superintendent David Hallac, Dare County commissioner Danny Couch and Dare County planning director Noah Gillam are scheduled to be at the in-person meeting to discuss the recent collapsed house, provide updates on other oceanfront houses and answer questions from community members.

Dare County has declared eight houses along Ocean Drive as unfit for habitation. Some of the houses have ingress-egress issues. Others have septic systems that are not working or a structural component is failing, reports the Dare County Planning Department.
