The CAT5 Jeepers group put out a call for donations to put together Easter baskets for children in Dare County and lower Currituck county and local businesses and residents delivered.

Marie Paul of the CAT5 Jeepers reports that Eric Smith, manager of Dollar General in Buxton, Waves, Grandy, Manteo and Barco, had all of his stores put boxes out to collect Easter basket items and area residents have been giving generously at all locations. CVS in Manteo donated baskets and chocolates and Harris Teeter donated “the cutest” bunny baskets and candy. CAT5 Jeepers members contributed remaining items needed for the baskets.

“We all worked together and built over 100 baskets last night!” said Paul on Friday.

The group delivered the baskets Saturday morning – half to the Beach Food Pantry and half to the Lower Currituck Food Bank. Baskets will be available at the food pantries and the CAT5 Jeepers hope as many kids as possible are able to get them.

“What a wonderful life we have to be able to do for others,” said Paul. “We are all blessed beyond compare.”
