Samuel Richard Wentz Jr., 78, of Weeksville, died April 26, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living. He was born October 6, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Samuel Richard Wentz Sr. and Anne Tolson Wentz and was the widower of Sharon Lynn Hyde Wentz. He retired from U.S. Coast Guard.

Survivors include sons Scott Samuel Wentz (Tammy) and Steven Spencer Wentz; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Funeral service will be held May 2 at 11 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with burial in West Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Albemarle Hospice, 1507 North Road Street #2, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twiford Memorial Chapel is serving the family. www.TwifordFH.com
