Ocracoke posts 12-1 baseball win against CHSS

Ocracoke Dolphins are introduced at a game against Cape Hatteras Secondary in Buxton. Ocracoke Dolphins soundly defeated Cape Hatteras Secondary 12-1 on the Buxton baseball field Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Senior Ayden Paddock started for Cape Hatteras and sophomore Daymon Esham started for Ocracoke.

In the first inning, Ocracoke’s leadoff hitter Jackson Strange scored the Dolphins first run and Chandler O’Neal the second. Cape Hatteras executed a perfect run-down between second and third.

Through two innings the score remained 2-0 Dolphins.

In the fourth, Ocracoke surged ahead, scoring five runs and pushing Paddock off the mound.

Ocracoke scored another five runs in the fifth inning. Cape Hatteras scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth when Gavin Thompson scored after being hit by a pitch.

Ocracoke garnered seven hits with Cape Hatteras hitting for one by Paddock. Strange, an Ocracoke senior, had two base hits and score three runs.

Also pitching for Ocracoke were Strange and Max Elicker. For Cape Hatteras, Kenny Berrane and River Lester made appearances.
