Dare LWV luncheon highlights Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce leader

The Dare County League of Women Voters will spotlight Karen Brown, president and CEO of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, on May 12 at 3 Tequilas restaurant, located at 804 S. Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon will be buffet style and a set price will be collected by LWV as diners enter the dining room. Reserve a seat by sending an RSVP before May 11. You will find the RSVP form at www.lwvdarenc.org under Events/League Luncheons. This event is for members and their guests.

Brown accepted an executive management position with the Bonita Springs, Fla. Chamber of Commerce in 2000 after working in healthcare insurance for a number of years. In 2007, she moved to Zebulon, Ga. to take on a dual role as president/CEO of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce and economic development director of the Development Authority of Pike County. Five years later, she accepted her current position, president and CEO of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, the organization was named Outstanding Chamber of the Year by the Carolina Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives in 2016. In 2018, Brown was named Chamber Executive of the Year for North Carolina.

As a member of the Chamber, Dare LWV attendees will hear a talk focused on one of the Chamber’s stated goals: providing opportunities for the membership to be successful in their businesses and organizations.
