First Flight fifth in regional golf championship

First Flight placed four golfers among the top 30 of 62 golfers to finish fifth in team standings at Monday’s NCHSAA 3A East Men’s Golf Regional Championship.

Playing on the par 72 Reedy Creek Golf Course at Four Oaks, Nick Bernard finished 19th to lead the Seahawks team with an 83. He finished one stoke short of an individual state qualifying position.

Jack Eckerd was one of three Currituck County golfers in the regional competition. Eckerd shot a 79 to finish 11th overall and will advance to the state meet May 9-10.
