Over 2,000 people gathered at Dowdy Park in Nags Head Saturday, May 7 for a fun-filled day of visual and performing arts at the 33^rd Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival presented by PNC Bank.

In between the live music and dance performances, Dare County Arts Council’s executive director took the stage and announced the 2022 Artrageous scholarship recipients.

“Each year we are honored to award a senior from each Dare County high school with scholarships from the Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund,” said DCAC executive director Jessica Sands. “These talented young artists have big dreams and we are happy to support them.”

The 2022 Artrageous scholarship recipients are Hannah Montgomery of First Flight High School, Kirra Folb of Cape Hatteras Secondary School and Cloey Davis of Manteo High School.

Montgomery will attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and plans to major in theater with a double minor in dance and English.

“I was surprised to find out that I won the scholarship, and I am so appreciative to Dare County Arts Council for the recognition,” said Montgomery.

Folb will attend East Carolina University and plans to major in fine arts.

“When I found out that I had won one of the Artrageous scholarships, I was ecstatic,” said Folb. “One of the first people I told was my art teacher, and we were both really happy.”

Davis will attend the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and plans to major in filmmaking.

The Artrageous Kids Art Festival is Dare County’s longest-running kids’ art program.
