ServSafe food safety class offered in July

The North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be offering a ServSafe Food Safety Class July 18-20. This 14-hour class is to be held at the Chowan Ag. Building, located at 730 N. Granville St. in Edenton in the conference room and will begin at 9 a.m. each day.

ServSafe is a course designed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to provide foodservice operators, managers and support personnel with the knowledge essential for food preparation and handling within their respective facilities to help reduce the risk of food-borne illness. The course covers handling food, from receiving and storing to preparing and serving. It gives science-based information on how to run a safe establishment.

The 14-hour class will be scheduled as follows:

July 18 – Instruction Day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

July 19 – Instruction Day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

July 20 – Exam Day 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Test Registration cost is $125, which includes the seventh edition book and exam sheet.

To register, complete the online registration and payment through Eventbrite at servsafejulychowan.eventbrite.com. The registration deadline is July 5th. Cash and check payments will be accepted in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Make checks payable to NCSU. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Chowan County Cooperative Extension, located at 730 N. Granville St. Suite A in Edenton within five days of registration. Class size is limited and full registration, including payment, are required to hold a spot.
