The 9th annual Shore Break 5K is one of two fundraising races sponsored by the Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund. Since its founding, the fund and its sponsors and participants have contributed over $500,000 in education opportunity grants to Cape Hatteras Elementary and Secondary schools.

This year’s race is Monday morning, May 30 starting at 8 a.m. at the Koru Village’s Oceanfront Beach Klub at 40127 NC 12 next to the Avon Pier. The Shore Break 5K is chip timed.

The signup online registration is $45 plus a signup fee. Registration online ends May 27 at 11:59 p.m. Go to runsignup.com to register for the 5K or Tidal Pool Run at $25.

On race day, registration will be available at the Koru Beach Club in Avon from 7 to 7:30 a.m. Registration will also be available at packet pickup on Sunday, May 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot at the Koru Beach Club.

This year’s post-race party will feature a light breakfast and complimentary micro beers from sponsor Carolina Brewery, only for 21 and up runners.
