The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued its felony blotter for May 2022 for unincorporated Dare.

Four crimes were reported in Colington, three of which were on one street on the same date.

The blotter has 13 crimes reported.

On Hatteras Island, Hatteras village and Buxton each had two crimes reported and Rodanthe, Salvo and Frisco had one each. Unincorporated Roanoke Island and Wanchese recorded one crime each.

May 3: Worthless check. 4000 block of Mill Landing Rd., Wanchese. Worthless check written to a business. Under investigation.

May 4: Obtaining property by false pretenses. 58000 block of NC 12, Hatteras. Forged checks written on a business account. All stolen money was reimbursed by the bank.

May 5: Obtaining property by false pretenses. 24000 block of Beulah O’Neal Dr., Rodanthe. Unauthorized withdrawals from victim’s bank accounts.

May 6: Breaking and entering and larceny. 26000 block of Otter Way, Salvo. Suspects broke into a pool house and stole root beer. Suspects later returned and apologized. The victim chose not to pursue charges.

May 11: Breaking and entering motor vehicle. 300 block of Sandpiper Dr., Colington. Unknown subject rifled through an unlocked vehicle. Nothing stolen.

May 12: Larceny of motor vehicle. 100 block of Brakewood Dr., Roanoke Island. Vehicle stolen and later located abandoned in a wooded area. Upon further investigation, suspects were identified. Charges to be filed.

May 14: Breaking and entering motor vehicles. 56000 block of Queen St., Hatteras. Unknown subject rifled through unlocked vehicles. Medication stolen. Forensic evidence collected. Under investigation.

Breaking and entering motor vehicle. 52000 block of NC 12, Frisco. Victim reported money missing from an unlocked vehicle.

Breaking and entering and larceny. 46000 block of NC 12, Buxton. Victim reported money missing from their motel room.

May 19: Larceny. 46000 block of Flowers Ridge Rd., Buxton. Victim reported money and a watch stolen while on vacation. Under investigation.

May 31: Identity theft. 200 block of Williams Dr., Colington. Fraudulent loan taken out with victim’s identity. Under investigation.
