John Ivey Wells, 76, of Ocracoke, died at home May 24, 2022, after a long fight with cancer. He was born September 9, 1945 on Howard Street to the late Ed and LuDicie Wells.

There will be no burial as John has requested his ashes be spread in the Pamlico Sound.

Celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 12 at the Berkley Barn. Well-wishers, if they want, may bring flowers and food to that event for a potluck dinner.

Survivors include son Jason Wells, Debbie Wells, stepdaughter Eve Ferris, granddaughter Mila Ortiz and a grandson.
