Erma Queen Gaskins Scarborough, 89, of Avon, died June 24, 2022, at home. A native of Hatteras Island, she was born on October 13, 1932, to the late Clara Fithian and Horace Treadwell Gaskins.

Survivors include children Pamela Q. Midgett, Lessie S. Finnegan (Mike), Lana S. Vestal, Rennei S. Barnett (Tim), Herman Clyde Scarborough Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Charlotte Elizabeth Carver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Herman Clyde Scarborough Sr.; brothers H.T. Gaskins and Gerald Fithian Gaskins; and sons-in-law Thomas Midgett and Carl Vestal.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on July 5 at St. John United Methodist Church.
