The Chesapeake Hospital Authority awarded 10 scholarships to graduating seniors from Chesapeake and northeast North Carolina high schools during their annual awards dinner held June 23, 2022. Each recipient received a $2,500 scholarship to further their education in healthcare.

“This year’s committee received 20 highly competitive applications,” said Sandra Baynes, chair of the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Scholarship Committee. “The students we selected earned their place because of academic rigor, character, and community service, among other attributes. It’s our hope that one day they will establish a career in healthcare and make an impactful contribution.”

The students chosen will be attending a college or university in the fall of 2022. They were selected based on their academic records, test results, character references, extra-curricular activities, community service, interest in the health sciences and financial need.
