July 5, 1932 – July 27, 2022

Kitty Hawk, NC – Jean Ioleen Best Beacham, 90, passed away July 27, 2022, at her home in Kitty Hawk, NC. Jean was born in Panama City, Panama and returned to Kitty Hawk at a young age. She was the daughter of Edith and Robert Best. After graduating from high school Jean married Glenn Porter “Port” Beacham and moved to Norfolk, VA.  After working at Thomas Rutherford Insurance Agency for over 25 years, she retired and moved back to where she called home, Kitty Hawk, NC.

Although Jean had only five biological children, she was the mother to MANY more. Jean was referred to by all as Mom, Nana, Mrs. B, and Aunt Jean. She knew no stranger and was very well known for her expertise in the kitchen for her ultimate holiday meals and of course her delicious cookies and desserts. It was not uncommon for other mothers to call Jean to find out if their missing child or children had taken up residence at the “Beacham House”.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Port, daughter, Glenda, and grandchildren, Chastity, and Lee.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce Best, son, Randy, daughters, Ioleen, Torey and husband, Chuck, Paige and husband, Michael: grandchildren Kristina, Emily, Megan, and Shannon.

The family would like to give special thanks to Iris for her faithful companionship and Monica and Robbie for always being there with love and a helping hand.

A memorial service will be held at Kitty Hawk Methodist Church on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Betsy Haas officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Khedive Temple.
