Filmed on location on the Outer Banks, the feature film Call Sign Romeo will be having a special “back to school” screening this Sunday, August 28 at RC Theatres Kill Devil Hills 10, where tickets to the 7 p.m. show will be sold at matinee prices.

“At its heart, Call Sign Romeo is an inspirational movie about working hard to attain your goals.” says executive producer and writer Sam Cortez. “And what better way to help kick off the school year than to save a few dollars while seeing the Outer Banks community and school system represented on the big screen.”

With touches of The Karate Kid and Top Gun, Call Sign Romeo features the character Chris Torres, an athletic, smart solo act who must overcome the challenges of his senior year as he pursues his dream of going to the US Naval Academy and flying fighter jets. “The story is inspired by actual events,” according to Cortez, “a lot of the things that happen in the film happened here in the Outer Banks when the local high school wrestling team made a run at the State Championship.”

“This is a great opportunity for everyone to get out and see Call Sign Romeo before its local theatrical run concludes,” says the film’s director Raymond Wallace. “Filmed right here on the Outer Banks with area actors, audiences are likely to see many local spots and familiar faces throughout the film.”

Rated PG-13 for some thematic elements and language, the film is filled with positive messages about perseverance, anti-bullying, girl power and teamwork and is a story that the whole family can enjoy. It can be seen on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 7 p.m. at RC Theatres Kill Devil Hills 10 with its last screening taking place on Sunday, September 4.
