An injured juvenile pelican was brought in to Roanoke Island Animal Clinic last Monday for treatment. Dr. Mary Burkhart and technician Katie Stewart are shown here fixing up the nasty gash found on the pelican. After the wound was closed and antibiotics and pain medications were administered, the pelican was released.
