For the first time since November 2019, the staff and students of Cape Hatteras Secondary School will be honoring local veterans with a special ceremony Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in the campus gymnasium. The program had become an annual tradition at Cape Hatteras Secondary School until the COVID pandemic and ensuing protocols forced the cancellation of the event in 2020 and 2021.

The event honors local veterans from all branches of service and serves as a memorial to local veterans who have died in the past year (or in the case of this year’s event, the past three years). The event also highlights graduates of Cape Hatteras Secondary who are currently serving in the military. The day will begin with veterans and service members being served breakfast prepared by students in the campus cafeteria. The program continues in the gymnasium where the veterans are honored by faculty members, the school’s band, a guest speaker and students. It is a day full of reverence, fellowship and celebration.
