GEM sets free Poetry, Prayer and Song event

Poetry, Prayer and Song – a path to connections with people living with brain change ­– is set for Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church, located at 803 W. Kitty Hawk Rd. in Kitty Hawk. Participants can learn better ways to interact with loved ones living with dementia.

GEM will present Diana Waugh, RN, BSN – author of “I was Thinking” unlocking the door to successful conversations with loved ones with cognitive loss – via video. Waugh, a certified dementia practitioner, applies her out of the box approach to care of individuals living with memory loss.

Attendees will be welcomed by Colington United Methodist Pastor Jack Colenda with prayer and learn from Waught (via video) about her road to connecting families and loved ones on the journey of memory loss. Dana Walker and Angelo Sonnesso will connect participants with song. There will be time for questions.

All are welcome to this free event ending with light refreshments from Kelly’s. GEM expressed thanks the Outer Banks Community Foundation for the grant that enabled the program and Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church for hosting.
