4-wheel rally in Tyrrell County raises $4400 for fire department

The 17th annual JR Simmons Memorial 4 Wheelin’ Rally was a success this year with 128 ATVs, UTVs and dirtbikes, totaling 227 riders.

The event is held every year on the last Saturday of September in Columbia. The motto of the rally is “Come Feeling Clean, Leave Feeling Dirty.”

Riders lined up at 10 a.m. and rode about 50 miles through Tyrrell County.

This family-friendly rally was open to adults and kids, though children under 16 were required to be accompanied by an adult.

Registration was $25, which included lunch at the end of the course. This year a total of $4400 was raised. All proceeds go to the Tyrrell Volunteer Fire Department to help with the purchase of new equipment.
