Longtime owner of Whalebone Surf Shop, Jim Vaughn, left, and Lynn Shell of Outer Banks Boarding Company were hanging loose on the deck of Oceanview Hall during the Surfalorus Film Festival held recently in conjunction with the Eastern Surfing Association’s Championships at Jennette’s Pier. One of the films show, Waterman, was about legendary Olympic gold medal swimmer and world class Hawaiian surfer Duke Kahanamoku.
