Mega Millions drawing produces $1 million winner in North Carolina

The North Carolina Education Lottery has reported that someone who bought a Mega Millions ticket at a Wayne County convenience store won a $1 million prize in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.

The lucky winner purchased the ticket at the Handy Mart on U.S. 70 West in Goldsboro. The $2 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win the $1 million prize. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

Two lucky tickets sold in California and Florida will split Friday’s $494 million jackpot. Since the jackpot was won on Friday, Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot will reset to $20 million as an annuity prize or $10 million cash. Odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.
